Wow Mel: you have just expressed perfectly the difference I feel between the two versions of ‘Run’ too. I could not have worded it better.

I am very, very interested in your project. Not just because of your art, but because I want to see if your experience connects to mine, as I have a very physical/ emotional response to music.

I don’t see it. I feel it in different places and in different ways in my body. It makes some music healing, and other music destructive.... at least to me.

It sounds like it's probably not quite the same thing, but there are definitely songs that consistently leave me stripped raw and not-quite-ok. Every now and then I fall into the old habit of sidestepping my own emotions, and those songs help bring me back to my full-color self, reminding me that it's ok to feel it all.

I also have a handful of songs I can put on to soothe/calm myself when I'm all knotted up with worries or grief or whatever else. They're familiar blankets of sound and color that I keep tucked in a corner of my heart for when I need their comfort. (One of them is definitely going to be part of this project -- the newest one in that group for me, "By My Side" by The Paper Kites, ft. Rosie Carney.)
